Yaya Toure and his agent, Dimitri Seluk, have a good relationship, they have been together for 17 years. Seluk also looks after his brother, Kolo Toure. Yaya calls his Ukrainian agent, Papushka, which means Daddy in Russian.

There has always been controversy surrounding Seluk, especially whilst Yaya has been at Manchester City. Pep Guardiola and Seluk have not seen eye to eye over the last 2 years. A lot of name calling has gone on. You can’t help but think that a lot more is to come from Seluk after his client has now left the club.

Manchester City fans love Yaya but it was the right time to move on. The role of the agent is to be there for the player to hide behind when needed, how many of the comments that Seluk came out with whilst his client was at City were actually from the player, it’s hard to tell.

The recent reported comments from Yaya will leave a slightly bitter taste in the mouth of City fans. To effectively accuse Guardiola of racism for the way that he was treated seems a step too far. He may have been misquoted or misinterpreted? Is he making excuses for his lack of playing time recently?

I think this would have been one of those times where as a player he should have hid behind his extrovert agent. They are a lot easier to blame!
